BF2142Pro - a Battlefield 2142 competition mod ---------------------------------------------- Developers: CAL-BF2142 Admin Team (Rob Wallace, Alex Zabielski, Jim Honaker, Chris Polan) Version: 1.1 (February 24, 2006) ------------- DESCRIPTION ------------- BF2142Pro is intended to be a mod that makes the standard BF2142 gameplay more suitable for league play. It should feel more like a patch for BF2142 than a true "mod". In a nutshell, this mod does a few things that are important for league play: 1. It gives all players access to the same equipment and upgrades, regardless of rank. 2. It gives "unranked" players access to more equipment and upgrades than otherwise possible in regular BF2142. 3. It makes small fixes to some maps (mostly starting spawns), making them less random and more balanced. 4. It fixes some bugs that DICE should have fixed before releasing the game :) -------------- INSTRUCTIONS -------------- CLIENTS: Install or unzip to the Battlefield 2142 game folder. Run BF2142Pro using the installed shortcut, or make a copy of your BF2142 shortcut and add "+modPath mods/2142pro" to the shortcut command line. SERVERS: Unzip to the Battlefield 2142 Server folder. Add "+modPath mods/2142pro" to the server launch command line, or configure your server control panel to launch the mod "2142pro". NOTE: this mod is intended to be used with the following server settings: sv.useGlobalUnlocks 1 sv.minUnlockLevel 1 sv.maxUnlockLevel 1 This will give ALL players access to the same equipment, regardless of their rank, which is critical for league play. See below for a list of equipment/upgrades for each class. BUG FIXES -------------------- 2. "Kit change on revive" bug fixed - players now drop kits immediately when killed or put into man down state (delay used to be 4 seconds) This fixes the "kit revive bug" that allowed players to get full ammo and/or change classes when getting revived. 3. Automatic weapon firing sounds fixed (for most weapons) - the firing sounds for the following weapons should now match the actual rate-of-fire: assault rifles, submachineguns, machineguns, lambert carbine, PAC FAV gun, APC guns, PAC tank machinegun Note that although some weapons may SOUND like they are firing more slowly or more quickly, the actual rate-of-fire of all guns is unchanged. 4. New ability gauge - the ability gauge when healing/repairing/rearming something has been reworked The old circle gauge is buggy and doesn't work properly, so a new one was made. 5. Squad leader beacon 3d map icons now work properly - blue beacon icon shows on the 3d map for friendly beacons within 100m - red beacon icon shows for enemy beacons within 2m This fixes the problem (bug?) of not being able to identify squad beacons as friendly or enemy. III. MAP CHANGES --------------- 6. Starting spawns - most main base flags now have multiple selectable spawngroups, making starting spawns much less random 7. New map versions intended for 5v5 and 6v6 games (all changes below are relative to the 16-player versions) - Belgrade 64: orbital strike and all vehicles removed - Camp Gibraltar 64: orbital strike and all vehicles removed toll station flag starts neutral - Cerbere Landing 64: orbital strike and all vehicles removed PAC base capturable (40 seconds), middle flags start neutral - Fall of Berlin 64: orbital strike and all vehicles removed PAC base capturable (40 seconds), middle flags start neutral - Shuhia Taiba 64: orbital strike and all vehicles except one jeep per side removed EU main base flag removed freezers flag starts under EU control and is capturable (40 seconds) - Sidi Power Plant 64: orbital strike and all vehicles except one jeep per side removed - Tunis Harbor 64: orbital strike and all vehicles removed - Verdun 64: orbital strike and all vehicles removed To run these maps, use the following maplist command: maplist.append gpm_cq 64 8. 32-player map ticket bleed - 32-player attack/defend maps now require one less flag to achieve a ticket bleed, which encourages more aggressive play 9.
